Jennifer Wells
Postdoctoral Fellow
Jen completed a BSc in Biochemistry with First Class Honours from the University of Westminster, UK, in 2014 before enrolling in the MRes in Structural and Molecular Biology course at Imperial College London, where she established a strong foundation in structural biology and protein purification while contributing to NMR and X-ray crystallography projects. Jen then went on to specialise in cryo-electron microscopy during a PhD at the Gene Centre at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany, as part of the International Max Planck Research School for Life Sciences. She was employed as a Wellcome Trust-funded postdoctoral researcher at Birkbeck, University College London, optimising the in vitro reconstitution of a 2 MDa 16 subunit human protein complex by generating multicasette baculovirus vectors for protein expression in insect cells, before joining the DNA Replication Group in March 2022 as a postdoctoral fellow to investigate human DNA licensing using biochemical and structural approaches. Jen enjoys long walks, pandas, visual art, travel, cooking (not baking), and spending time with her loved ones.
